How to install and play 'PalmMAME':
 
What is it?
PalmMAME is a port of MAME for the PC. It's an emulator which simulates the chips used in original arcade machine allowing you to play old arcade classics.
 
Why do I want it?
It supports many different arcade machines such as Sega, Capcom, Atari, Konami and Irem. So now you can play your favourtie classics on the Zodiac.
 
What do I need to run it?
The usual. A Palm, FileZ (a good free file manager for Palm) an SD card, and an SD card reader. If you dont have an SD card reader, you can just use the .mp3 trick to get the necessary files to your SD card. (Rename the ending of your files to .mp3, then u can sync it to the device becuase the zodiac thinks its a music track. Once on, track it down, and move it with 'FileZ' to the appropriate location, see below for more details)
 
                                                           
 
How do I install it?
 
1. Download the latest version of PalmMAME here : (At this time the latest Zodiac version is '011') http://www.pocketdimension.com/PalmMAME.html
2. Open the ZIP and add all the .prc files to the Installation manager. You can place the modules on your SD card if you prefer and just load the PMLoad to the internal memory. Place the modules in 'PALM','Programs','PalmMAME'.
3. Hotsync the device to get the files to the Zodiac
 
                                                         
 
4. Locate 'PMLoad' and place it in the catergory of your choice
5. Open it to make sure that it installed properly. (The screen will flash a few times, don't worry)
6. You should now have a large list of arcade game titles. Now place the SD card into the computer.
 
                                
 
7. Navigate through 'PALM', 'Programs', and in then create a folder called 'PalmMAME' and inside that 'roms'
8. Place the roms that you want in there. You can place them in folders of you want. (your roms MUST be in MAME 0.36 format) You can make them 0.36 by using this: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/clrmameguide.htm
 
                                   
 
9. Place the SD card back into your Palm, and open PMLoad.
11. Select the game of the rom that you placed on the SD card.
12. If you run a game and it comes right back to the menu then it means your romset is invalid or not found.

14. Controls are as follows:
 
Controls for Tapwave Zodiac
-To bypass ok screens wiggle the joystick left and right.
-Right trigger is add coins, left trigger is player one.
-The buttons are green, yellow, blue, red for buttons 1-4 and also are mapped to a right joystick if one is present (such as robotron, just use the right d-pad as the right stick and it works really well! )
-Function brings up the UI menu and joystick select is then enter key.
-The power button pauses the game.
-Launcher is escape.
