How to install and play 'ZodSCUMM':

Guide last updated on 27th September 2005.  Email me if this guide is out of date.

What is it?
ZodSCUMM is a Zodiac ported/enhanced version of ScummVM 0.5.1. It is an emulator to play the old Lucarts point and click games e.g. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle..

Why do I want it?
Its free, open source, and it's really fun to play your favourite classics on the go, and does look very impressive. It runs really great and is being updated often.

What do I need to run it?
The standard gear. A Zodiac, FileZ (a good free file manager for Palm) an SD card, and an SD card reader. If you dont have an SD card reader, you can just use the .mp3 trick to get the necessary files to your SD card. (Rename the ending of your files to .mp3, then u can sync it to the device becuase the zodiac thinks its a music track. Once on, track it down, and move it with 'FileZ' to the appropriate location, see below for more details)

How do I install it?

1. Download the latest version of ZodSCUMM here : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/palmmame/ZodSCUMM.zip?download
2. Open the 'ZodSCUMM.prc' and select to install it on the internal or SD card (There can be problems with installing this on the internal memory, so for the moment, but it on your card if possible)
3. Hotsync the device to get the files to your Palm

4. Once you have hotsynced 'ZodSCUMM' will appear on your Zodiac in the 'Games' catergory.
5. Open it to make sure that it installed properly. A menu will come up, with a blank list.
6. Now, plug the SD card reader into your PC, and insert one of your SD cards.

7. Navigate through 'PALM', 'Programs', and in there should be a folder called 'ScummVM'. At the moment there will be nothing in that folder.
8. Inside the ZodSCUMM ZIP that you downloaded, there will be a file called 'scummvm.ini'. Place that file inside the 'ScummVM' folder on the SD card if not there already.
9. There is also a 'Games' folder inside there, this is where you will place your games. Create a folder for each game, so to keep it organised and make Scumm easier to work. I.E. Here is the demo version of 'Day of the Tentacle' (Place in the 'Games' folder).

10. Place the SD card back into the Palm, and open ZodSCUMM.
11. Click 'Add Game...'. It will show your SD card directory, double click on 'PALM', 'PROGRAMS', 'ScummVM', 'Games', then select your game folder and click 'Choose'. Leave the 'ID' as it is, but you can change the name of the game if you wish, tick the 'Full Screen' mode box if you want.
